BECOMING A MEMBERWe welcome individuals at all skill levels to join our Guild. You will build and improve your calligraphy skills through programs, workshops and retreats. We also have periodic Mentoring Programs for members who would like additional assistance with their calligraphy scripts, tools and techniques. Our Membership Year runs from our Summer Programs in June, July and August to our official fiscal year, September through May. Membership renewals for the following year take place during the months of April and May.membership types• Individual Memberships are $40 per year • Family Guild Memberships are $50 per year for a maximum of two members residing in the same household • Student Memberships are $20 per year for those who have proof of enrollment at a high school, college or post-graduate program. Student members enjoy all membership benefits except voting rights and eligibility for the annual scholarship award. • Supporting Memberships are $20 per year for individuals residing outside of Harris County and any adjacent county who wish to stay aware of Guild activities. WORKSHOPSSeveral times a year, major workshops are scheduled over a weekend and cover new techniques. They are taught by nationally and internationally recognized teachers and master calligraphers. There are also mini-workshops and clinics after the regular monthly meetings taught by talented local members. |
SCHOLARSHlP PROGRAMAfter two years, members are eligible to apply for the Guild's annual scholarship award. A recipient must use the award towards an outside calligraphy class or conference and share the newly acquired skill in a Guild Program during the following year. |
LIBRARY RESOURCESThe Guild maintains an extensive library of books focused on calligraphy and paper arts. Members may request books for individual study for a month. |
